Go Smoothie Packs

My family loves smoothies. And I love it for us. They are an easy way for us to get fruits and veggies in our diets, they are easy, they’re fast, and they’re yummy. My son thinks it’s like getting dessert without having to haggle. Ha! When we started school this year, he listed this as one of his favorite morning breakfast options. They are definitely quick, but there’s a way to make them even quicker – frozen smoothie packs.

Create combos, bag em and freeze. It’s that simple. Then when you want one, grab a pack, toss it in the blender with your preferred liquid (coconut water, almond milk, etc.), blend and go.

You’ll need:
  • Bags of your favorite frozen fruits
  • Fresh veggies and fruits (like spinach, apples, bananas, etc.)
  • Seeds (like chia, flaxseed, hemp seeds, etc.)
  • Liquids (coconut water, almond milk, etc.)
  • Quart-sized freezer bags
  • Pen or sharpie to mark your bags
Some of my favorite combos are:
Island Breeze
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • ½ cup frozen mango
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tsp flaxseed
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
Purple Wonder
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • ½ cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tsp flaxseed
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
Good to be Green
  • 1 cup spinach
  • ½ cup frozen mango
  • 1 apple (with skin and core)
  • 2 dates
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup coconut water
In the Tropics
  • 1 cup frozen pineapples
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tsp hemp seeds
  • 1 cup coconut water
Pink Cashmere
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 banana
  • 2 dates
  • 1 tsp flaxseed
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
Let Me Clear My Throat
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 apple (with skin and core)
  • 1 cup coconut water
Sunshine Boost
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp grated lemon zest
  • 2 dates
  • 1 cup coconut water
Aloha
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • ½ cup frozen pineapples
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk

We love spinach, but you could add cauliflower and carrots as well without changing the flavor too much. If you have bananas that are starting to over-ripen, peel them and freeze for use in smoothies later. Depending on how sweet you like your smoothies, you may need to add a little agave nectar or your sweetener of choice. Play with it to determine what makes your mouth smile.
